This conference, the first of its kind in Germany, aims to bring together historians from Europe and beyond to discuss a wide variety of aspects of pedagogic research in the discipline and the present state and possible future trajectories of HistorySOTL. Conference organisers anticipate lively, rigorous and robust debate and reflection on everything ranging from very specific issues to those that are broad-ranging and core, such as whether and how HistorySOTL can support historians and institutions to enhance students’ learning and the academic quality of higher education both now and in the future. The conference is hosted by the history department of Bielefeld University and the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in History. Bielefeld University runs the program ‘richtig einsteigen’ (Getting Started) funded by the ‘Qualitätspakt Lehre’ (Quality Pact for Teaching) that aims to improve study conditions and undergraduate student learning. Deadline for proposals is March 1 2016.
