The ICED 2010 Conference will provide an opportunity to explore the diverse range of approaches and contexts for academic development with a strong focus on the Quality Learning issue, which is defined based on the five categories used by Harvey and Green (1993): excellence or ‘exceptionality,’ ‘perfection or consistency,’ ‘fitness of purpose,’ the ‘value for money’ and, finally, its transformative character. In reflecting on, and learning from, diverse experiences we will also engage with a range of approaches to enhancing the practice of academic development through research, evaluation and scholarship.

The proposed theme focuses on three deeply embedded issues in ICED Higher EducationÂ’s concerns:
Quality learning
Global quality
Enhancing strategies (for development)
