On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 250 years of American history, politics and culture will be remembered, commemorated and discussed in the United States and abroad. In November of the same year, midterm elections will take place which have the potential to determine the future course of American democracy.
In this youth seminar, participants learn more about the multifaceted history of democracy in the United States, the current challenges the system faces and what this means for the future of the country. During the seminar in Bingen, participants are going to discuss the historic progress of and challenges to democracy and what civic engagement can look like in a democracy. Is it time for the renewal of democracy and its institutions?
