The LMU Small Animal Clinic (http://www.med.vetmed.uni-muenchen.de/) , a unit of the Center of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a Professorship (W2) of Diagnostic Imaging commencing as soon as possible. The successful applicant is expected to represent all aspects within the field of diagnostic imaging including radiation protection in teaching, research, administration as well as clinical services and to closely cooperate with all disciplines of the LMU Small Animal Clinic. The focus of this professorship is on the different diagnostic imaging methods as well as radiation protection across disciplines. A cross-species service is envisaged for the future, at the latest with the relocation of the LMU Small Animal Clinic to the Oberschleißheim campus. Prerequisites for this position are an outstanding personality, excellent leadership skills, and longstanding experience in the pertinent disciplines. A university degree in veterinary medicine, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification are mandatory. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have to demonstrate their potential for an outstanding academic career. Experience in raising third party resources, excellent team and communication skills, as well as the willingness to play a leading role in the future development of the diagnostic imaging service are desirable. International board certification of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) and/or of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) is required. Experience and/or qualifications in the field of radiation protection are advantageous. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research will be expected. According to domestic legal guidelines (TAppV), the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching veterinary students in the examination subject radiology including radiation protection and biology as well as diagnostic imaging as part of the examination subject surgery. As communication with students, staff, patient owners, industry and stakeholders will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is required for the successful candidate to demonstrate the sincere willingness to become proficient in German.
