Die ´´European Association of Distance Teaching Universities´´ (EADTU) wurde 1987 von den führenden europäischen Fernuniversitäten gegründet, um ein transnationales Fernstudiennetzwerk hohen Niveaus aufzubauen. Die Aktivitäten der EADTU konzentrieren sich auf: Kommunikations- und Informationsaustausch,Zusammenarbeit in der Erstellung, Produktion und Finanzierung von internationalen Fernstudienprogrammen,Entwicklung neuer Methoden und Anwendungen im Bereich der neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien. - The objectives of EADTU are to: foster innovation in higher distance education, particularly by introducing new educational concepts; cooperate in research and educational technology to support this innovation; implement innovation in courses and curricula; work together on course and credit transfer; promote access to higher open education in Europe; to support bilateral contacts between academic staff of the member universities; and organise projects in cooperation with European authorities and industry.
