The Post-Primary Languages Initiative is in place since September 2000 with the purpose of implementing the policy of the Department of Education & Science Ireland of enhancing and expanding the teaching of languages in second-level schools. The initiative is also engaged in research on teaching materials, the planning networking days for teachers and the dissemination of information on the many opportunities for language development.
