The dossier offers an insight into education reports and education indicators from all 6 continents of the world. The focus is on education reports that were prepared in the respective country by the local authorities and institutes.

USA Election 2024: Teaching materials and the topic of education in the election campaign

On 5 November 2024, the elections for the new American president will take place in the USA. Kamala Harris is running for the Democrats, Donald Trump for the Republicans. The elections are being watched with great interest around the world, including in schools and the education sector in general. The German Education Server has therefore prepared various dossiers and podcasts so that you, too, can find out more about the topic.
The web dossier of our school editorial team offers free teaching materials on the US presidential election. This is supplemented by a podcast with audio link recommendations on the election as a teaching topic. Furthermore, the Education Worldwide dossier deals with the topic of education in the US election campaign.
For the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024: New dossier on education in Italy

Italy is this year's guest country at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Education Worldwide is marking the occasion with a web dossier on the Italian education system. In addition to information on education and schools in Italy, you will also find tips on educational holidays and educational trips to Italy. Another section of the dossier deals with developments in the Italian education system under the right-wing government of Giorgia Meloni. The web dossier also offers you an insight into literature and reading culture in Italy.

New dossier on pro-Palestinian protests at universities worldwide

Emotions are running high at universities around the world. Some people feel reminded of the student protests of the 1960s/70s against the Vietnam War. The current student protests and campus occupations take place against the background of the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, which in turn were triggered by the attack on Israel by the Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas on 7 October 2023.
You can find out what the students are criticising and what demands they are making of their universities in our new dossier. It also offers an international press review of the demonstrations taking place at universities around the world, as well as statements from academic societies and other organisations in the field of education.

Gender and Technology 2024: further special edition of the Unesco Global Education Monitoring 2023 published

Unesco's Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM) is supplemented with special thematic reports in subsequent months. A special edition on gender and technology has now been published for the GEM Report 2023. On the one hand, it examines the impact of technology on girls' educational opportunities and outcomes. Secondly, the report looks at the role of education in shaping future technological development. One of the findings of the report is the fact that the proportion of women among STEM graduates is 35% and has not changed in the last 10 years.

Teacher shortage not only in Germany

A new UNESCO report shows that the shortage of teachers is a problem not only in Germany, but worldwide. New data suggests that 44 million additional teachers will be needed to achieve universal primary and secondary education for all children by 2030. This is one of the demands of Goal 4 "Quality Education" of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. From an international perspective, the UNESCO report provides answers to questions such as: "Where is the teacher shortage greatest?", "Why is there so much teacher shortage worldwide?" or "How can the teacher shortage be solved?"

Early education from an international trade union perspective

The November 2023 newsletter of the global union federation "Education International" focussed on the elementary sector. Various articles provide statistics and studies on the state of early childhood education and the staffing situation worldwide. Topics such as gender, inclusion and the Covid-19-crisis are also discussed. In addition, questions are asked about the state of decent working conditions for early childhood staff 10 years after the adoption of the International Labour Organization (ILO) guidelines.
