This Future Skills Index was published by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). QS is already well known for its ‘THE-QS World University Rankings’, which have been compiled in partnership with the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine since 2004. The publication is subtitled ‘Transforming higher education for the skills economy’ and analyses the adaptability of countries to the future labour market. It assesses more than 190 countries based on the following criteria: skills fit, academic readiness, future of work and economic transformation. These criteria are intended to help interpret ‘higher education performance in the world of skills-led industrial change’ and contribute to ‘align with future demands in AI, digital, and green economies, foster innovation, talent development, and sustainable workforce competitiveness globally.’ The publication itself is undated. Various media have reported its publication in January 2025. There is a parent HTML page (https://www.qs.com/insights/world-future-skills-index) that provides a summary of the PDF, which is also included in the PDF itself. The parent page is only accessible after entering a name and email address. [Summary: Information provided by the editors of the site and supplemented by the editors of Education Worldwide]
