PEER is the successor to the earlier Unesco Country Dossiers (see the Internet Archive). In contrast to these, PEER focuses more strongly on the Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM) and on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) "Quality Education". The country profiles contain the following topics: Overview, Inclusion, Financing for equity, Climate change communication and education, Non-state actors in education, Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Technology.
