The organisation Open Education Global was created in 2008 under the name of "OpenCourseWare Consortium". It then had a focus on courses and course material that is freely accessible. Starting in 2014, the organisation changed its goals and began focussing on Open Education in general. OEG has more than 200 member institutions worldwide.
