The GCYDCA aims at developping and institutionalising guidance, counseling and youth development in Africa. The centre was founded in 1994 by the education ministers of almost all African states (49 out of 54). It is located in Malawi. The website seems to have been updated in 2016 for the last time. It provides some information on GCYDCA goals, activities and programmes which do not only deal with education but also with counselling and guidance in the social and health sector. Moreover, the website provides a Semi-Annual Report of GCYDCA activities (July 2016).
In 2013, an African Association for Counsellors (AAC) was founded with the support of GCYDCA. Its focus is on (psycho)therapeutic counselling only. The website doesn't provide much information apart from a short info on two conferences held in 2014 and 2015.
