international
The Scholars at Risk Network (SAR) was founded in 1999 at the University of Chicago. Meanwhile, the network has more than 300 institutional members in about 40 countries. SAR aims at providing refuge for scholars who face discrimination, censorship, intimidation, or violence in their home countries. The website provides information for scholars who seek support as well as institutions that want to host scholars at risk. Furthermore, the website provides many resources like e.g. the "How to Host Handbook", the "Speaker Series Handbook" or the SAR's scholar stories where scholars relate their stories and how they came to find support with SAR. SAR also publishes the Academic Freedom MONITOR and the Academic Freedom Index as well as the University Values Bulletin. Starting in Sept. 2019, SAR also coordinates the "InSPIREurope - Initiative to Support, Promote and Integrate Researchers at Risk in Europe". Furthermore, the network organises workshops, conferences and other events. [Abstract: Editors of Education Worldwide]
