SYL as founded in 1921 and is the National Union of University Students in Finland. The website provides information on goals and activities of SYL, including development cooperation, educational and social politics. SYL also publishes a newsletter ("Trending"), and participates in NOM, a regional organisation bringing together the student organisations of Nordic and Baltic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark - incl. the Faroe Islands and Greenland, Iceland, Norway; and since 2006: Esthonia, latvia and Lithuania). The website furthermore provides information for foreign students wanting to study in Finland, as well as further links to ministries, organisations and further information.
