The Network for Latin-American Regional Universities (RedUREL) was founded in 1996 with the intention to create an international reference service which, along with the impulse to realize international academic exchange activities, animates the establishment of Latin-American professorships, furthermore the establishment of advanced academic vocational programs in strategic areas, the foundation of study groups about emerging themes in the field of higher education, the edition of publications about integration, the university legislation, the foundation of a Latin-American school for leadership, the accordance of cooperation agreements, the distribution of international events and the establishment of technical commissions.
