The program Mecesup 2 is part of the efforts of the Chilean government, the improve the transition of its current (stand: June 2011) economy to an economy based on efficient, professional knowledge, by fostering the equality and the efficiency of tertiary education. Thus, the tasks of the program are directed to build the necessary competences which empower Chile to increase their level on international challenge and to support ecnomonic and social development and to assure that no talent goes missing because of lacking leraning opportunities.
