The Centre is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and associated with the CNDP; it was founded in 1983. Its mission is to promote, especially by means of training activities, multiple use of news media in teaching. The following activities are described: Liaison between teachers and news professionals, training, documentation of materials about "media and the schools", collection of school newspapers (6000 titles from France and other countries), centre of expertise and resources, publishing in the area of media education.
