The presentation in form of theses, facts and educational statistics is based on a lecture given by the lecturer in June 2005 in Bonn ( Germany). It deals above all with current developments in Chinese educational policies, in particular the introduction of the nine year compulsory school, the retreat of the state from educational financing and new political approaches in rural development.
