Education, Research and Science are by nature international and qualitatively involve cooperation around the world. The international character of research is particularly important where the necessary financial investments to set up the infrastructure needed for research are beyond the capacities of an individual country. On the other hand, the oppurtunities provided by international cooperation are intended to be used in the context of problems and issues which, as a result of globalization, can be tackled only in the framework of joint programmes and cooperation projects.
