The Council on Higher Education is an independent statutory body established in 1998. It contributes to the development of the South African higher education system by providing advice to the Minister of Education, through the activities of its Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC), and through the publication of relevant information. The website provides information about the Council, its members, task teams and conferences and about the HEQC' s areas of responsibility. Full texts of the Council's annual reports to the parliament can be found as well as legislative framework papers and other accompanying documents. A link list leads to institutions and South African universities.
