Publication available only in German. "The publication analyses how various EPP-affiliated [European People's Party at EU level] parties in ten European countries deal with right-wing populist and right-wing extremist forces. It demonstrates that these parties differ significantly in terms of radicalism, ideology, and willingness to cooperate, thereby necessitating differentiated strategies. Neither strict exclusion nor unconditional inclusion has proven effective in the long term; success depends on contextual sensitivity, clear red lines regarding anti-democratic forces, and credible engagement with key issues. A typology distinguishes between authoritarian right-wing populist, nationalist right-wing populist, and moderate right-wing populist and conservative parties. Examples of successful practice from Spain, Greece, and Finland are presented, though the study also highlights the limitations regarding their transferability. The study advocates for a strategically differentiated and principled approach to dealing with right-wing populist and right-wing extremist parties in Europe." Other countries analysed include France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. The publication was published by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in 2025.
