Like other Indonesian ministries, the Ministry for Education has its own Department for Research and Development. It was created in 1969/70 as a small office. Meanwhile, it has became a real department with a secretariat, as well as research centres for educational policy, curriculum research, educational assessment, statistics and educational innovation.
