The French High Council of Education (Haut Conseil de l'Éducation) is a consultative institution for the French educational system and it is composed of representatives of the important institutions of the French educational system. Founded due to the demand of the French ministry of education (Ministre de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche), the Council's purpose is to articulate recommendations, propositions and programmes for the field of pedagogics and to gather and present results and experiences concerning the important issues of the whole educational system. One main focus lies on the development of the "socle commun de connaissances" (Core curriculum) with an analysis of the necessary competences for every 16-year-old French student. These mostly annual reports and other official texts are available at the website.
