Cervantes Institute - english information

The Cervantes Institute is a public institution which was founded in 1991 by the promotion of Spanish teaching and language and for t he diffusion of Spanish and Latin-American culture. It is located in Madrid, Spain and in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, the birth place of Miguel de Cervantes. The centres of the institute are located in all five continents. The tasks and functions of the institute are the organisation of general and specified courses for Spanish language and co-official languages of Spain, the enactemt of diplomas for Spanish as Foreign Language (DELE) in the name of the Ministry for Education and Science and the organisation of exams for the obtainment of those diplomas. Furthermore, it actualizes teaching and formation methods of the teaching staff, promotes the work of Hispanists, participates in diffusion programs of the Spanish language and effects cultural distribution activities in cooperation with other Spanish and Latin-American organisations and with entities of other countries and it provides public libraries which are furnished with advanced technological media.
