The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) ensures that all school curricula are well-understood and effectively used by teachers via regular visits to schools, training seminars to orient teachers, periodic reviews, research and evaluation of curricula. NCDC attaches great importance to ensuring continuing education and training and the encouragement of individual and collective research programmes in Sciences and Arts. The centre is subdivided in several units each with a special focus on a certain branch of study. The NCDC works to ensure proper distribution of materials to schools, to ensure that materials are used effectively by teachers and learners, to develop research skills of professional staff using ICT and to establish partnerships with similar institutions outside Rwanda. The NCDC activities include the development of quality curricula for Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Catch up programmes, the preparation of teaching aids for Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Catch up programmes and the preparation of teacher's guides, learner's textbooks and other pedagogical materials in accordance with MINEDUC Policies and Plans, with specific reference to the Curriculum Development Policy.
