The Bundesverband Freier Radios (BFR) is the association of free radios in Germany. The BFR, founded in 1994, is a decentralized grass roots democratic organization. The BFR lobbies for free radios, works toward raising public awareness of free radios, offers support for free radios and alternative media projects and also supports social movements. The BFR provides free radios with information on policies and regulations effecting media, also general information on radio broadcasting, the technical aspects of radio, education and training as well as ideas for radio programs. The BFR offers free radios opportunities for networking to help and support each other in both theory and practice.
