The Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS) at the University of Bremen was founded in 1996 with funding from the Senate of the City of Bremen. Organised into two departments, researchers at InIIS are concerned with issues of cultural pluralism and cultural difference in modern societies, as well as cultural, societal and political affairs and conflicts arising out of globalisation processes. InIIS is an interdisciplinary research unit within the Institute for Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Bremen, specializing in international politics, political theory and philosophy.
