USA Residence scholarships for German librarians

The “Librarian in Residence“ program by the New York Goethe Institute offers two German librarians an opportunity to experience the conditions and operations of US-American school libraries in a residence scholarship covering several weeks, including visits to school libraries, training centres for librarians, and discussions with experts. Education on Online Safety in Schools in Europe. Summary report 2009

This thematic summary report is grounded in a survey of primary and secondary schools in 30 countries in Europe, conducted by Eurydice, the European network for educational information. Taking account of the daily use of new and online media by children, the survey looks at the curricular and interdisciplinary treatment of online safety at school (e.g. data protection, shopping on the internet, using a mobile phone, cyber crime and child abuse). One focal aspect concerns awareness and teacher training and re-training.

The Policy Guidelines for Inclusion in Education act as a resource for policy makers, teachers and learners, community leaders and members of civil society to improve and develop the inclusive aspect of schools and education systems. The guidelines also form the basis of the project `Inclusion in Action` that will, throughout 2010, collect and disseminate good practices from all over the world in order to support efforts towards schools for all.
