Gemäß dem Fokus des "World Yearbook of Education 2006", in dem der Aufsatz publiziert wurde, nehmen die Autoren die "Steuerung bildungspolitischer Forschung in neoliberalen Zeiten in Argentinien" in Augenschein. Sie beginnen mit einem kurzen Abriss über das Bildungssystem und Bildungsreformen in Argentinien, um dann einen historischen Überblick über die argentinische Bildungsforschung mit Fokus auf Forschung zu Bildungspolitik zu geben. With their article, the authors follow the theme of the "World Yearbook of Education 2006" on "Education, Research and Policy: Steering the Knowledge-Based Economy". They start with a short account of the educational system and educational reforms in Argentina and move on to a "Historical overview of educational research in Argentina with focus on educational policy research".
