The report provides a comprehensive picture with data from 159 higher education institutions from 36 European education systems. It shows different strategies and measures and analyses success factors, challenges and needs to support institutional capacity building to promote integration, diversity and equal treatment in universities. This has become a strategic issue for higher education institutions across Europe, affecting learning and teaching, research and institutional cultures. Many have taken steps to find new ways for people from different backgrounds to find their place in higher education. The idea that different learning environments can better prepare students for a diverse society and different research environments is gaining importance.
