ELA is an independent association that depends on the financial support of individuals and institutions in both the public and private sectors. It organises conferences on questions in education law and policy, publishes thematic books and yearbooks etc.

Bildung gehört zu den am höchsten geachteten Menschenrechten und ist ein Recht, dass im Rahmen völkerrechtlicher Menschenrechte besonders entwickelt worden ist, so dass es ein internationales Bildungsrecht darstellt.
