This report on the situation of vocational education and training as well as continuing education in Germany was produced by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), on behalf of the European Centre for Development in VET. Drawing on official statistics and indicators, the comprehensive report delivers a contemporary account of VET in Germany, based on the UNESCO ISCED-scales. A bilingual glossary explains specific career paths available in VET in Germany. The report, issued in September 2009, is the 7th edition of its kind published in the ReferNet context, which for the first time addresses the question as to how far the global recession affects VET and the labour market in Germany. The report places information on the system, statistics, and policy developments into the economic and socio-political context.
