Research for Sustainability – Driver for Innovation
The aim of the 5th BMBF Forum for Sustainability was to strengthen the collaboration of politics, science and industry for the generation of sustainable inno¬vation. A central part of the programme was the “12th European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (erscp2008)”, that was hosted in line with the Europe-wide networking in Germany for the first time.
The 5th BMBF Forum for Sustainability featured discussions about the state of the art in research, about the collaboration between politics, science and research communities as well as future research priorities. The objectives were: to present best-practice examples, to explore solution-driven opportunities and to initiate joint projects.
The 12th European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (erscp2008) was a three-day conference at the interface of science, industry, public authorities and politics. The overall goals of the international meeting were to facilitate innovations and to promote sustainable consump¬tion and production by challenging participants’ projects, ideas and approaches and by stimulating debate regarding their contribution to sustainable development.
