Mother-child-education-programAÇEV is a non-governmental foundation supporting equal educational opportunities in Turkey, enabling children and adults from less privileged families to access information. The organisation was founded in 1993 and it has since supported ca. 600,000 people in evidence-informed projects. The projects target the children as well as their mothers or parents and families in general, and in some cases even the fathers as such. For instance, the “Mother Support Programme“ provides general information on child development, health and the creation of a positive learning environment. Fathers are targeted in a “Father Support Programme” teaching them about their roles and attitudes toward their children. The programmes inform families about the development of communication skills, particularly regarding school entry and school routines. The “Mother Child Education Programme” and “Preschool Parent Child Education Programme” prepare the children for school. The programme “7 is too late” (7 cok gec) offers early reading promotion activities, targeting children under the age of six and their parents. The “Reading Days”, which succeed the “Functional Adult Literacy and WomenÂ’s Support Programme” aims to improve the reading habits of both women and children.
