Anzeigentext: | The Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) is one of the largest higher education institutions in the country, with around 1,800 employees and 16,000 students on its five campuses in Førde, Sogndal, Bergen, Stord and Haugesund. We have strong, innovative academic environments in the disciplines of health and social sciences, engineering and natural sciences, economics and social sciences, teacher training, culture and sport. The HVL offers various one-year programmes and Bachelor’s, Master's and PhD degrees. The HVL aims to work closely with workplaces, Norway’s regional areas and its students, and to become a university with a professional and work practice-oriented profile. Our Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports has four departments with staff in Bergen, Sogndal and Stord. This Faculty is one of the largest teachers training institutions in the country with around 6,200 students and a staff of 550, offering kindergarten teacher training, primary and secondary school teacher training for Classes 1-7 and 5-10, practical pedagogical education and Bachelor’s, Master's and PhD programmes. The Faculty has extensive continuing and further education and training programmes. Research activities at the Faculty are organised into research programmes and research groups. The Department of Pedagogy, Religion and Social Studies has 180 employees in Bergen, Sogndal and Stord. This Department provides education at all levels and is involved in kindergarten teacher training, primary and secondary school teacher training (at Master’s level from 2017), Bachelor studies in public health and sport/physical education, practical pedagogic education and Master’s studies in educational sciences, social studies didactics, ICT in learning, educational leadership, kindergarten knowledge, learning and teaching and special pedagogics. The Department also contributes towards the Faculty’s PhD programme Studies on Bildung and pedagogical practices. Departmental employees are involved in research which is relevant to our studies and participate in national and international academic networking. The Department aims to lead the field in respect of the development of professionally oriented expertise within its fields of expertise. In this context we engage in continuous cooperation with important players in the region in respect of further education and, for example, the development of school and kindergarten-based expertise. The Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) has a permanent vacancy for an Associate Professor associated with the Research Cluster "Critical and Practice-Oriented Educational Research".The Research Cluster "Critical and Practice-Oriented Educational Research" is linked to the Department of Pedagogy, Religion and Social Studies at our Bergen campus. Duties and responsibilities: This position is linked with the Faculty’s interdisciplinary Research Cluster “Critical and Practice-Oriented Educational Research”. This Research Cluster is now being established for the purpose of strengthening the Faculty’s empirical educational research and profiling its PhD programme “Studies of Bildung and Pedagogical Practices” (SBPP) nationally and internationally. We are seeking applicants who will be able to make a contribution towards the establishment and realisation of this Research Cluster. This will involve the following:

The salary for the position of Associate Professor is subject to the State Salary Scale, position code 1011. A 2% contribution will be deducted from the salary for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
