The Amazonian Universities Association (UNAMAZ) promotes the specialization of professionals and researchers in the countries of the Amazon region to be able to guarantee a better conservation of nature and a better quality of life of the population. Therefore, the objectives of UNAMAZ are the promotion of reciprocal knowledge of the member institutions as well as the identification of needs, potential and possibilities of knowledge-gathering and quality of education. Furthermore, UNAMAZ confronts the joint regional problems and supports the search for solutions through information, communication and scientifical cooperation. The definition and the execution of active, cultural, integrative politics for the region is another task field - UNAMAZ analyzes cultural singularities to be able to preserve and to disseminate them. Also, it fosters and supports formation programs and qualification courses on all levels which are indispensable for the sustainable development of the Amazon region.
